The position
The Global Medical Director will lead a team of Medical Doctors with clinical, research, and pharmaceutical industry experiences in the global and regional/local settings. Under the Director’s leadership the team will drive scientific area development including investigator related activities.
Reporting to the Vice President (VP) for cardiovascular diseases, the Global Medical Director will be part of the VP area leadership team and will represent global medical affairs in global decision boards working closely with cross functional stakeholders in Marketing, Patient Access, Clinical Development, Regulatory, Research and Translational Medicine in the Global HQ Office as well as the Novo Nordisk regions and affiliates.
Your main responsibilities will be focused on:
• The development of the Global Medical Affairs strategy including molecule, physician groups and disease specific strategies as well as the publication strategy building on new scientific insight and product development in alignment with the Global Project Teams
• Ensure scientific alignment and facilitate that scientific knowledge is appropriately communicated and understood internally and externally from global to local across the world
• External liaison between Novo Nordisk and the scientific community, physicians, and physician organizations, and is responsible for overseeing scientific dialogue and communication strategy at international scientific meetings and conferences
The position calls for an outgoing mature leader who can autonomously work as the strategic partner within interdisciplinary project teams and provide input to clinical development plans from a clinical, scientific and communication perspective.
Leadership qualifications must be evident e.g., from earlier leadership positions or project management; the position builds on strong people management skills and a willingness to develop the team and continue to drive performance.
Qualifications
To be a competitive candidate, you should have:
• Medical Doctor. PhD and/or MSc in Life Science or any other related filed is considered a plus. Strong business acumen as well as a clinical and research background
• Extensive Medical Affairs and/or Clinical Development experience
• People or project management experience with a focus on people development and building high performing teams
• Strong cross functional leadership skills with evidence of strategic, tactical, and operational leadership
• Therapeutic expertise/previous pharma experience in the field of cardiology is a plus

The Global Medical Affairs, Cardio-Renal is a VP area in Global Medical Affairs responsible for building and delivering consistent scientific communication across all phases of drug development within the therapeutic areas of Atherosclerotic/Ischemic Cardiovascular Disease, Hypertension and chronic kidney disease, Heart Failure and Cardiomyopathy.
The VP area consists of 3 director teams of high-performance individuals who are focused on innovative ways of working, has a strong sense of commitment and an open atmosphere. Our development pipeline within cardio-renal is diverse and growing most recently with the acquisition of a new HF compound. This requires expansion of the VP area, and we are creating a new director area to drive medical affairs strategy and therapy area development which will include the newly required phase 2 compound.
