Human Rights Specialist for Latin America

Udlandet

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a new colleague with strong professional experience working with human rights in Latin America to join our small regional office in Bogotá, Colombia. You would work primarily on business and human rights (including National Action Plans to implement the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights), and a human rights-based approach to Sustainable Development, e.g. non-discrimination of indigenous peoples and other marginalised groups, natural resource management and climate change, and promotion of an enabling space for human rights defenders. You would work at the regional level and in selected countries.

You will contribute to ongoing projects and workstreams, through the development of tools, analysis, and strategic partnerships for national implementation and monitoring of human rights. Moreover, you will contribute to strategy development and establishment of partnerships with human rights actors in the region, in close collaboration with the Institute’s representative for Latin America and colleagues at the headquarters in Denmark.

You are used to working with international, regional and/or national partners and facilitating dialogue, and have a good understanding of key human rights actors in the region. You are equally confident working with state and non-state actors, including government officials, National Human Rights Institutions, business organisations, civil society organisations, and communities.

You have a good understanding of what it takes to achieve results in complex country contexts, have strong research and writing skills as well as analytical and communication skills and flexibility to engage with new human rights related topics. You can work independently, but also thrive as part of a diverse international team and can travel for short and medium-term missions to implement activities and projects.
