Join us as our new Data Engineer for Regulatory Affairs & Product Safety

The Data Engineer will help turn the digital visions of Regulatory Affairs and Product Safety into practical and daily life realities and will contribute at all levels as we drive digital transformation, realize the potential of system investments, and improve the collective IT maturity of our area and people.

Welcome to Regulatory Affairs & Product Safety - Operations & Digitalization

The Operations & Digitalization department is anchored under the Vice President of Regulatory Affairs & Product Safety and we drive optimisation and digitalisation initiatives on behalf of the global RAPS organisation. We also own and operate systems (like RegulatoryOne by Veeva) and interact closely with stakeholders in other IT, data, digitalization and analytics departments across Novonesis.

In this position you need to have:

  • A university engineering or science degree in a relevant IT field (could be Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, bioinformatics, or similar)

  • Strong communication skills, collaborative mindset and a natural flair for training, supporting and inspiring colleagues

  • Experience with programming and data analysis and visualization tools, such as Python, SQL/Snowflake, Plotly Dash, Flask, Power BI, SpotFire, or similar

  • Technical expertise in data engineering technologies and tool stacks, such as API integrations, database migrations, ETL/ELT processes, or open source tools

  • Experience or interest in developing skills in Cloud setup (AWS/Azure), data pipeline development, version control, automated testing, CI/CD, etc.

  • Ability to work effortlessly in both written and spoken English


The position requires:

  • A data minded generalist with strong people skills and ability to make IT and data topics understandable and relatable to all

  • A person who can independently and proactively work as a “Swiss army knife” type data engineer, with little to no routine tasks to form up a basic workday

  • An ability to work in a global function where a lot of the collaboration and alignment needs to happen effectively over Teams calls

  • A colleague who will thrive in our ’Office-first hybrid’ model and with Agile ways of working


This position reports to the Head of Regulatory Affairs & Product Safety Operations & Digitalization.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain data pipelines, including ETLs to/from Regulatory Information Management System (RegulatoryOne by Veeva) into our Datalake or Citizen Data Platform

  • Collaborate with RegulatoryOne administrators in identifying business cases that can turn into data products

  • Data product prototyping, development and maintainance

  • Debug data issues, identify root causes and help fix the data issues

  • Drive data quality monitoring initiatives with the help of dashboards and/or automation

  • Actively engage with corportate IT functions, as well as other digitalization teams across the organization

  • Test and evaluate new technologies, like Artificial Intelligence, as we investigate their potential impact and benefit for our business
