LC-MS Metabolomics Research Scientist - 1 year contract

Are you an expert in metabolomics with a strong track record in applying LC-MS based untargeted and targeted metabolomics workflows? Do you have experience in other omics technologies such as proteomics and feel passionate about applying omics toolbox to biomarker discovery and qualification while being exposed in a fast-paced, highly innovative research environment? The position In this position, you will be responsible for developing LC-MS workflows for primarily untargeted metabolomics analyses of cells and diverse biological samples, including plasma and tissues. In your daily work, you will work together with a metabolomics Principal Scientist to jointly develop, implement, and execute biomarker plans in support of relevant projects. You will also collaborate closely with department scientists, laboratory technicians, and project teams. Your main responsibilities will include:
  • Developing, qualifying, and implementing all aspects of an untargeted metabolomics workflow on LC-MS instrumentation. This includes developing sample preparation protocols, robust LC-MS methods, and quality control procedures.
  • Developing data analysis pipelines for untargeted metabolomics workflows, in collaboration with bioinformatics experts.
  • Implementation of new technologies and data analysis platforms.
  • Submitting high-quality data for presentations and reports.
  • Collaborating closely with department scientists, laboratory technicians, and Translational R&D project teams.
  • Qualifications
    To thrive and succeed in this position you have:
  • A PhD in pharmaceutical sciences, biochemistry, analytical chemistry or related disciplines or you hold a Master’s degree in the abovementioned disciplines with a number of years of practical experience from industrial or academic settings working with LC-MS-based metabolomics.
  • Expert hands-on experience with metabolomics workflows, setting up and qualifying LC-MS methods, operating and troubleshooting LC and high-resolution MS instrumentations, and processing data.
  • Substantial practical experience in sample preparation and conducting sample analyses for untargeted metabolomics studies.
  • Experience with data analysis software for metabolomics datasets.
  • A strong commitment to high-quality analysis, data handling and reporting.
  • It will be considered an advantage if you have experience working with LC-MS-based proteomics/peptidomics, automation technologies, or targeted methodologies.     The Omics Technologies department is part of the Translational Research area within Global Translation, which is responsible for identifying clinically relevant biomarkers and generating high-quality biomarker data to guide decision-making in research and early development. You will join a team of dedicated scientists and laboratory technicians who apply untargeted and targeted approaches to drive biomarker discovery, qualification, and quantification across all therapeutic areas within [xxxxx]’s R&D value chain.
