You will join the Fleet Management & Technology (FMT) Finance team, primarily supporting the Fleet Operations function. FMT Finance is a team of 9 highly engaged, energetic, and sociable people who enjoy our daily impactful jobs.

Fleet Operations is responsible for managing the performance of all Maersk owned container vessels, proudly being one of the world's largest and most efficient vessel operators. The operation is primarily conducted out of Copenhagen, Singapore and Mumbai.

For the Student Assistant, this means a great opportunity to be part of an international organisation and to provide data transparency through timely and accurate reporting and analysis. You will bring insights to support decision making to ensure cost optimisation and asset reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Our team is responsible for providing business partnering support to the FMT organisation. Our mission is to deliver value through financial transparency, drive performance management, produce in-depth analysis, bring clarity on our business outlook & insights and recommendations to to optimise resource allocation.

You will be working closely with colleagues across the FMT Finance team, as well as the FMT business teams, in particular the Fleet Operations department.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Support with the preparation of monthly performance review materials
  • Support with month-end closing tasks
  • Bring analytical insights from external benchmarking with third party ship managers.
  • Deliver improved and consistent data visibility across fleet groups through new reporting solutions.
  • Identify other improvement areas to bring greater transparency to financial information.
  • Support with the development of various automated BI tools in collaboration with the BI team.
  • Support the team in the budgeting process.
  • Provide ad hoc financial analysis as required to support decision making.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for a candidate who is a proactive, analytical, detail and quality-oriented student in final year of a relevant Bachelor’s degree or beginning of your Master degree.

We expect your study to be Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or a related area.

Preferably you may have previous experience in management reporting, controlling or a financial analysis position.

  • You have an eye for detail and take pride in delivering quality work on time, sometimes under a tight schedule.
  • You are service minded and willing to help others.
  • You bring a positive attitude, are a team player and are happy to share ideas.
  • You are highly reliable with a flexible approach to work you undertake and able to organize your workload.
  • You possess advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint.
  • You are inquisitive and eager to learn about new BI tools and leverage their benefits through report automation.

Since we are an international team, fluency in written and spoken English is a must.

Working hours will on average be around 20 hours/week.
