Principal Scientist for in vitro biological screening assays

Måløv

Do you have a strong passion for developing in vitro biological assays for the functional screening of drug candidates? Are you eager to become part of an international, ambitious, and collaborative team at the Centre for Functional Assays & Screening (CFAS)? If so, we encourage you to apply for the role of Principal Scientist in our center. The Position
We're on the hunt for a talented individual who can develop predictive in vitro screening tools to facilitate medium- and high-throughput screening of small molecules and protein-based drug modalities. In this exciting role, you will be responsible for:
  • Designing, developing, and conducting advanced and robust cellular in vitro assays to drive the selection of drug candidates.
  • Contributing to the development and improvement of screening strategies for the selection of the best drug candidates across different therapeutic areas.
  • Managing the outsourcing of screening assays to CROs for high-throughput screening of small molecules.
  • Utilizing your subject matter expertise in small molecules to facilitate knowledge sharing and coordinate activities in the area.
  • Providing informal scientific leadership and mentorship to colleagues.
  • You will collaborate closely with project teams with members across the research organization, department scientists, and laboratory technicians, and represent the department across a variety of projects. The work environment is dynamic and innovative, providing opportunities to interact with colleagues from our global research sites in Denmark, the US, the UK, and China, thereby presenting an excellent opportunity to establish a strong global scientific network. Qualifications
To thrive and succeed in this role you have:
  • A PhD in cell biology, immunology, biochemistry, or a related discipline and at least 7 years of post-degree experience from the pharmaceutical industry with preclinical development of drug candidates.
  • Substantial experience with small molecule drug discovery and development.
  • Proficiency in the design, development, and execution of cellular in vitro functional assays utilizing both engineered cell lines and primary cells. Assays of relevance comprise but are not limited to molecular pharmacology assays detecting signal transduction e.g. reporter gene assays, receptor binding assays, high-content imaging, and FRET assays.
  • Experience with liquid handlers (e.g. Biomek, Hamilton, Tecan or Echo) for assay miniaturization and automated/semi-automated workflows for efficient screening processes.
  • As an individual, you are naturally curious and proactive, possessing excellent communication skills. You excel in establishing and maintaining external and internal connections. You thrive in a dynamic and evolving work environment, and you enjoy collaborating within teams to share knowledge and learn from others. Your passion for science and your ability to drive and advance projects inspire those around you. About the Department
The Centre for Functional Assays & Screening is part of Global Research Technologies at [xxxxx] located in Maaloev in the Copenhagen area of Denmark.
