As the Project Lead, you will be based in Måløv, Denmark and your primary responsibility will be to establish and drive a project aimed at supporting the scalable production of stem cell derived cell types. This will involve building and leading a growing team of scientists and technicians, as well as leveraging knowledge base from across the organization into the project. Bringing together competences within stem cell biology, molecular biology, assay technology, analytics, cell physiology, and cultivation technology will enable fast-forwarding target discovery and drug screening in early-stage research. Your role will require the use of collaboration skills, leadership experience, and a solid scientific background to effectively build and guide the team in alignment with strategies and priorities. Additionally, you will engage with a wide range of cross-organizational stakeholders in a global setting to maintain an updated and aligned strategy for this dynamic area. As a member of the Bioprocess Research leadership team, you will actively engage in ensuring smooth cross-functional collaboration by finding new ways of working and providing input on technical solutions as well as operational improvements. The main responsibilities can be summarized as follows:
  • In close collaboration with key stakeholders, establish the strategy and define the roadmap for building up the competency area of stem cell development and delivery for target discovery and drug screening.
  • Oversee the identification and validation of innovative stem cell-based technologies in regard to genome modifications and bioprocesses.
  • Foster collaborations and partnerships with academic institutions, research organizations, and biotech companies to advance the understanding and applications of stem cell technologies in the drug development process.
  • Hire people into the team and apply your leadership skills to build a high performing team with motivating opportunities for personal development to grow the projects collective capability base.
  • Define and implement operational setup for delivery of the individual cell types to collaborators across the organization ensuring optimal quality and quantity.
  • Ensure project progression according to defined plans and milestones for building the competency area and ensure high quality and timely deliverables of stem cell derived cells requests.
  • Ensure implementation of technologies, development of protocols, documentation and continuous improvement of work, workflows and processes including with collaborators across the organization.
  • Arrange meetings with the project steering committee to report status, propose and get approval for strategy changes and other major decisions.
  • As part of the Bioprocess Research leadership team, contribute, where relevant, to ensure continuous efficient operational setup as well as a strong collegial spirit within the area.
  • Responsible for budget and resource planning for the project.

  • Qualifications
    To thrive and succeed in the role, you should have:
  • Documented project leadership experience from leading and developing projects within stem cell research.
  • A keen interest in people development and people leadership.
  • A PhD degree in Cell biology, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry or a related field with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in the development and execution of stem cell biology projects.
  • Proven track record within stem cell propagation and differentiation processes development and knowledge of gene edits, cultivation strategies and systems for stem cells.
  • Proactive and visible leadership style and the ability to set a clear direction in a complex environment.
  • The ability to build a curiosity-driven innovation culture while driving business strategies with a focus on fit-for-purpose deliverables.
  • Experience in working with cross-functional teams and managing stakeholders at different levels.

  • About the project
    The project will be based in Bioprocess Research, Global Research Technologies, representing a new effort to bolster our drug discovery program using stem cell-derived cell types for target discovery and drug screening and related purposes. The primary aim is to ensure the accessibility of top-tier stem cell-derived cells for the diverse applications, catering to varying demands for cell types, quality, quantities and thereby also requiring the need for ongoing research and development of methods and processes. Ultimately, the goal is to facilitate the distribution of cells to stakeholders across the globe. The project will benefit from synergies of being co-localized with our cultivation experts in the area while having easy access to assay development colleagues and experts from our therapeutic stem cell area.
